R.L. Smith & Associates, established in 2007, is a full service marine survey and consulting firm whose principle marine surveyor, Roy Smith, has more than 25 years of marine related experience. This expertise, coupled with more than 15 years of full time marine surveying, allows us to provide assistance with:

1. Certified member of the National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS), the premier global surveying organization requiring the HIGHEST level of ethical conduct and continued education as a part of their minimum membership requirements. Vice President of Western Rivers Regions.

2. Accredited Marine Surveyor with the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS). An organization of Professional Marine Surveyors requiring a High level of ethical conduct and continued education as a part of their minimum membership requirements.

3. Certified Master Marine Technician with ABYC (American Boat & Yacht Council, Inc) - ABYC is an industry leader in the writing and implementation of safety standards as it pertains to vessel construction, blocking and systems installation. Certified in Standards, Marine Systems and composite boat builder.

4. Certified Fundamentals of Gearing / Gear failure analysis sanctioned by AGMA (American Gear Manufacturers Association).

5. Certified USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) -
National Association of Professional Appraisers.
